Could you commit to give up something you enjoy such as chocolate, coffee on the way to work, takeaway food? .....then donate the money you saved to help improve the lives of young mothers and their children.
Christian Family Concern wants to run regular sessions to promote cooking skills and healthy eating amongst our bedsit residents.
Are you aware that current statistics indicate 86% of children consume too much sugar, 72%too much salt and 96% do not eat enough fruit and vegetables? (National Diet & Nutrition Study) A poor diet leads to childhood obesity and its related problems, but it also has a significant effect on children’s behaviour, concentration, learning ability and mood. The best way to combat this is food education for children and their parents.
Each session will provide the necessary skills to create a nutritious and balanced meal, and provide that meal for 10 mothers and their children on the day. Each session and meal will cost approximately £30.00.
Currently we don't receive any funding to provide these sessions for our residents, so please consider supporting this project through Lent by giving up something that you enjoy - or indeed taking on something new for this period.
THANK YOU!
