Story

We urgently require support to finance our move to Norton House in Hillfields, so that we can continue to help vulnerable refugees in the city that have fled war, torture and persecution, rebuild their lives in peace and dignity.

Our charity was formed in the back of a laundrette in Hillfields in 2000, with the aim to support refugees, asylum seekers and migrants in Coventry. Since then, we’ve grown exponentially and now support over 3,500 people a year, including unaccompanied children, destitute families and the homeless in the city.

We aim to help all rebuild their lives, supporting their integration into the city’s local communities and encouraging them to contribute fully to the life of Coventry; all while in safety and with dignity. We do this through providing a variety of services to the newly arrived, ranging from therapy and employment advice, to English classes and housing support for the destitute.

To ensure we can continue to do this in the future, we are moving our centre location back to our roots in Hillfields at Norton House, and this is where we urgently require your help.

The property is currently very run down, and requires extensive structural repairs to make it usable. As such we’re aiming to raise £60,000 to achieve this. However, this move is about more than just moving offices.

Our vision is for a centre which represents Coventry and the wider region, offering a welcoming, friendly home for all of the general public. We want to create a centre where hope is renewed and bridges are built across communities. The intention is to provide a space in which we can overcome cultural and racial misconceptions, promote integration and community cohesion, and continue Coventry’s and the regions proud history of welcome, peace and reconciliation dating back to World War Two.

Any support you can offer will be greatly appreciated and directly help support those that most need it in our city.

About the charity

We welcome and empower all asylum seekers, refugees and other migrants to enable them to rebuild their lives and achieve their potential. Supporting over 3,500 people a year, these include unaccompanied children, destitute families, victims of modern slavery and those escaping conflict zones from around the world. To overcome the challenges our clients face, we offer a range of services which include employment and immigration advice, to therapy, English classes, social groups and much more.
