Story
A team of 17 hikers are preparing to take part in the Welsh 3 Peaks Challenge to raise funds to support young carers in our local communities.
The group, led by the charity’s Chief Executive, Paul Parlby, will climb Pen y Fan in the south, Cadair Idris in mid-Wales and summit Wales’ highest mountain Snowdon, a total walking distance of 17 miles (27.4km) and an ascent of around 1500 metres (4920ft).
All funds raised go to our ‘Who Cares About Me campaign?’ to provide young carers with a much needed break from their caring responsibilities. We need to raise £10,000 to provide children as young as seven years old, who are carers, with a weekend break, time to relax and have fun whilst Carers Trust experts step in to look after their loved ones for them.
There are an estimated 700,000 young carers, aged 5-17 in the UK. who do not enjoy a 'normal' childhood due to their caring responsibilities. They do a fantastic job and deserve our support.
Thank you
