Story

Croydon Minster is a Grade 1 listed building with a history dating back to Saxon times. Our organ was built in 1869 by the distinguished organ builder William Hill & Sons. It is central to the worship and rich Choral tradition at the Minster and plays a pivotal role in the civic life of Croydon, taking centre stage when the town’s civic community gathers.

But our heritage and musical tradition is now at risk. The Organ is in need of major and urgent restoration. It is over 40 years since any significant work to the instrument was undertaken and only 60% of it now functions adequately. If we don't act now we risk losing our precious and much-loved instrument altogether and Croydon will lose (possibly for ever) its most significant choral training establishment for young people.

We need to raise at least £250,000.  We've already raised our first £88,000.  Please help us get to £100,000 by the end of April so we can build our unique musical heritage for future generations.
