Mark began his challenge in Helensburgh at midday on Saturday 25th April 2015, aiming to reach Dunbar 24 hours later in his bid to raise money for management and promotion of the route. His race along the John Muir Way was be followed by a BBC film crew for The Adventure Show.
Unfortunately, Mark became ill at just over 10 hours into his challenge and it was decided he was unable to continue. Although disappointing for Mark, he hopes that he will be able to attempt the full distance again soon.
Mark is a member of Hartree Jets Ecosse, a performance triathlon squad based in Edinburgh. His challenge would have seen him cover the equivalent of five back to back marathons.
The money raised by Mark will be used to improve or enhance the physical infrastructure of the route to increase the enjoyment for users of the John Muir Way.
