The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
Visit the charity's profileTabitha is a Sharpei who found herself with us in January 2018. She walked herself in to our main reception, abandoned and without any form of identification to say who she was or who she belonged to. She didn't even have so much as a collar or lead.
It was immediately obvious to us that she was in urgent need of veterinary care. Tabitha arrived with very little fur, scabby skin and bleeding wounds as well as severely inflamed eyes. Her eyes were so inflamed that they were practically shut.
The first treatments which Tabitha was placed on were a 6-week course of antibiotics with a 2-week course of eye drops and regular medicinal baths. Tabitha had to have a procedure known as a skin scrape carried out to find out the cause of her irritation which we now know is due to a skin mite called Demodex. She is now on a treatment for that alongside the others.
Tabitha has been responding well to her treatments and her fur is now growing back as you can see from the photos. She is still receiving ongoing treatment for her skin mites as they need to be fully eradicated.
Although the inflammation around her eyes has eased and Tabitha is now able to see a lot clearer, she will still need to undergo plastic surgery to lift her eyelids to enable her to see properly which is estimated to cost £410. This is not including the cost of follow up checks from the vet, additional medication or the one-to-one staff care which she will require.
The total cost of Tabitha’s treatment is expected to be approximately £600, so we are asking for your help to raise funds to help us with Tabitha’s care. We rely on public donations to fund vital veterinary care like Tabitha’s. She is such a lovely girl with such a huge personality & heart who makes our staff smile every day.
Tabitha isn’t currently ready for rehoming as she does need to finish her treatments, however if you are interested keep in touch.
