The site for the new park is just north of Hairmyres Hospital and adjacent to the train station in East Kilbride. The area is of historic value as the site was originally used as a quarry and had lime kilns on it, the quarry operated between 1850 and 1950.
We have exciting plans for this beautiful woodland which will protect it but utilise the area to its best advantage. A goodpark creates a sense of place and community and supports health and wellbeing. It acts as a community focus and can help to prevent and crime and antisocial behaviour by providing alternative activates especially the young people.
We plan to create; Adventure play in the woods , Dog walking trails , Community orchards, Forrest School picnics and BBQ’s areas, Cafe, toilets and toddler play, Sanctuary garden, Memory garden, Sensory garden, Parking facilities , Beautiful woodland trails and Amphtitheatre event /education area.
