Story

Thanet Business Network (TBN) members are planning to scale the equivalent height of Mt. Everest, being 8,884m or 29,029ft by climbing Augusta Steps in Ramsgate on Saturday 26th May.

TBN, a group of respected and trusted business people serving Thanet and the surround areas are helping to raise Dementia Awareness at the end of Dementia Action Week and are taking action themselves to raise funds for East Kent Independent Dementia Support (EKIDS).

EKDIS, an independent charity is staffed entirely by volunteers whose aim is to help and support people and their families across East Kent who are living with Dementia or memory problems.  We provide support through informal gatherings with a number of coffee mornings in Ramsgate and Canterbury and evening groups in Whitstable and Westgate-on-Sea.  We have a number of trips out as well such as afternoon tea, the Spitfire Museum at Manston and more.

EKIDS is wholly dependent on donations from the public but because we are staffed by volunteers all of our income is either spent directly benefiting our members or helping to promote the charity to reach local people who may not have much in the way of support.

About the charity

EKIDS is a registered charity supporting people and their families living with dementia. Our friendly groups meet in Thanet & Canterbury where people can find help and advice and socialise with others in similar circumstances. All our volunteers have first hand experience of dementia care.
