Faringdon Folly is the most notable landmark for Faringdon. It is well known across the county. Visitors come from far and wide to climb the Tower and walk and spend time in the woodland. The 100ft Folly Tower was built in 1935 and is now over 80 years old . In the 1980’s, Robert Heber-Percy of Faringdon House donated the Tower and woodland to a Charitable Trust . (Charity number 284795) and since then, Faringdon Folly Tower and Woodland has been looked after by a team of local volunteers. It is estimated that 50 - 100 people walk in and around the woodland each day (15,000 to 30,000 visits per year) People of all ages visit and enjoy this unique place at whatever time they choose. Local schools, brownies and cubs visit the Tower and woodland throughout the year. The Tower is also a venue for private parties. Over 4,000 people (adults and children) visit the Tower each year (Open days and private bookings).
Our only income is from entrance fees or private bookings. We receive no regular financial support from Local Councils.
