Visit the charity's profileRoman’s estate agents from their Basingstoke, Fleet, Yateley, Sandhurst and Camberley offices are undertaking a cycle ride from Basingstoke to Camberley on 29th November 2017 in aid of the Stroke Appeal at Frimley Park Hospital. They will start at their Basingstoke office at 12.30pm and are aiming to reach Camberley, via the other offices, around 3 to 3.30pm.
Every 3.5 minutes, someone in the United Kingdom suffers a stroke. This is approximately 152,000 people. Stroke is a life changing condition which affects the whole family as well as the patient. Patients need the right environment to adjust to this whilst receiving therapy to maximise their potential. Families play a pivotal role in helping the patient to recover and spending quality time with them is just as important as the therapy they receive.
The vision of the Stroke Appeal is to provide a centre of excellence with the aim of becoming a national flagship service for stroke. To realise this vision a new build, which will be accessed from the Stroke Unit, will provide a quieter environment that patients and their families can access in order to spend that quality time away from the busy ward. Dedicated rooms will also be provided for Speech Therapy and Psychology assessments and for complementary services such as massage or hairdressing. The provision of additional facilities within the Stroke Unit will further enhance the care that patients with stroke or head injury receive. Over 1,000 patients each year will benefit from this project.
