Like the characters played by his name sake, Hugh Grant is unlucky in love and as a result Gables Farm Dogs & Cats Home has been the home of this cheeky chap, a four and half year old collie, for over a year now. In that time he has become a firm favourite of all the staff and volunteers but is still looking for his fur-ever home.
While he waits for that special family to come along he needs to be kept active so an 11 mile walk is needed! Along with his entourage dog behaviourist Jodie Harris and re-homer Kazzie Westlake, he has pledged to walk 11 miles from Wadebridge to Padstow and back again on the 15th May (with a fish and chip lunch to keep up their strength).
Hugh Grant and crew are hoping to raise as much money and awareness as possible for long term dogs in rescue and all money raised will go towards caring for these special dogs. A target of £580.80 has been set, as this is equivalent of 11 miles in feet, but anyone can sponsor individually per mile or in any way possible.
Dog behaviourist Jodie Harris said: “Firstly we thought we needed a bit more positivity and fun after the long and miserable winter. Secondly, Hugh Grant has been with us for over a year now and we need to get his infectious smile out to the public. We never give up on our animals as we are a genuine non-euthanasia charity so love to come up with fun ways of finding them new loving homes”.
