We need to reverse the decline in the British woodcock population by tracking them with GPS tags, helping improve our understanding of how the right woodland management can help them recover.

We must act now to help Britain's breeding woodcock population.
Between 2003 and 2013, the British woodcock population estimate fell by almost 30%. You can help us to understand why by supporting our new GPS tracking project.
£11,250 would cover the cost of buying 25 GPS tags that would capture highly-accurate woodcock tracking data. This improved understanding could in turn inform guidelines for woodland management, ensuring woodlands are well-suited to the woodcock that depend on them.
This is a time sensitive project that must be done as soon as possible.
