Even before the devastating earthquakes in April/May 2015, the Nepalese education system faced many challenges: poor facilities, a lack of trained teachers, and high dropout rates. Since 1996, GAN has been working in some of the poorest and most marginalised districts to help fix these problems; in addition to these programmes, we are now also building temporary schools and houses, and providing specialist training in disaster management and psychological counselling.

Our 'Schoolbag for Life' Campaign hopes to provide 500 schoolbags to kids who either lost theirs in the earthquakes, or who never had them in the first place. We've already given 1000 away, and having seen the massive impact this had, we want to give more.
