The population of Shelthorpe ward (Haddon Way, Grange Park, Shelthorpe estates), is growing as new homes are built. But currently there's no suitable place to bring people together and deliver services/activities which meet local residents' needs - children, young people, low-income families, the elderly and those with disabilities.
Our project’s primary goal is to improve the quality of life and well-being of local residents by designing, building and operating a new community centre.
The Grange Park Centre (GPC) group is working with local organisations to provide activities/services, delivering them to meet local needs and ensure self-sufficiency. The aims being to improve health and well-being for all ages, improve access to support/advice and increase community cohesion and reduce isolation.
Likely services/activities to be ran:
>Young people’s activity clubs
>Health/fitness activities
>Counselling/debt advice
>Community groups, including parent/child groups
>Computer/IT Hub
>Skills/training
>Children's Parties
To date, just over £600,000 has been raised towards construction including £500,000 from the Big Lottery.
BUT we need to raise £15,000 from local residents to pay for fixtures, fittings, car parking etc. This in addition to grant applications to trusts, foundations and businesses.
It's your opportunity to be part of something special - a local community working together to deliver a much-needed facility that will improve the lives of local residents for many years.
You can do this by sponsoring a brick via Justgiving! (Minimum donation is £25)
In the comments page, when donating, please remember to include the dedication you'd like to appear on the plaque on the wall in the centre in recognition of your donation. (Max. 30 characters) We only have one chance to make a real difference - your donation will be a lasting legacy!
Details will be listed on grangeparkcentre.org.uk
Thank-you.
