At Hestia we support adults and children in times of crisis. Last year we supported over 20,000 men, women and children. This includes victims of modern slavery, women and children who have experienced domestic abuse, young care leavers and older people.

Story

On Monday 23rd April, Hestia features on BBC2’s The Victoria Derbyshire Show 9am-11am.  A former refuge resident, Holly, features on the programme.  We are raising money to support women just like Holly who have experienced domestic abuse. For many, turning to a refuge can be a difficult decision because of the uncertainty of what will happen when you arrive.

That is why Hesita is inviting Victoria Derbyshire into one of our refuges to address the myths and stereotypes of life in a refuge whilst raising awareness of the support available.

If you could make a donation to this refuge it would help women like Holly and her children feel more comfortable as they rebuild their lives.

£20 would pay for a welcome pack of essential toiletries and toys for children when they arrive at a Hestia refuge.

£100 would pay for a specialist Children's Worker to provide a day's support to children in the refuge to help them discuss and address the trauma they've been through.  Without such support, research shows children do not adequately address the abuse they've witnessed or experienced which can lead to negative mental health and patterns of behaviour in their adult life.

Thank you for anything that you can provide.  Every £1 makes a difference.

If you donate, JustGiving will ask you to tick a box allowing us to contact you.  We'd be very grateful if you did tick that box - we do not send out endless donation mailings.  We would like to let you know how you can take part in our campaigns to put an end to domestic abuse in the UK.

On behalf of the children and women you're helping with a donation - THANK YOU!
