Hull Women's Aid offer safe accommodation, advice and support for women and children that are fleeing domestic abuse
In the past 10 years we have had over 800 children reside within the refuge, each family making use of our current play equipment, unfortunately nothing lasts forever and our outdoor play equipment has broken and is irreplaceable, we are trying to raise as much funds as possible to resurface the area ensuring it stays safe for as long as possible as well as purchasing and installing a new play area with the hope many more children who enter the refuge will enjoy the outdoors and have fun whilst exploring and adventuring in a safe environment.
Many of the children who enter the refuge haven't had the opportunity to experience outdoor play before, it introduces fun and happy memories and times into their lives and gives them chance to explore. The importance of play for children's healthy development is grounded in a strong body of research. As a natural and compelling activity, play promotes cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being, offering the necessary conditions for children to thrive and learn.
