Story

The IGA is highlighting issues faced by glaucoma patients when it comes to taking sight-saving eye drops. Glaucoma is a condition where the optic nerve is damaged, leading to vision loss. If left untreated, it can lead to serious loss of vision, with up to 40% of sight being permanently lost before the effects are noticed. Daily eye drops are a simple solution to control the condition and save sight.

"As clinicians we are acutely aware that many patients really struggle with their eye drops. It is essential that clinicians find the time within their busy clinics to listen to patients describing their difficulties and try to help in practical ways. Good eye drop technique and adherence are 2 of the foundations of glaucoma care." Professor Peter Shah, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.

With your help we can educate glaucoma patients about the importance of taking their eye drops correctly. Show your support, donate now.
