KCAC was established as an arts charity with the Charity Commission which simplifies and focuses our aim amongst the desperate pleas for help coming from Nepal.

In this crisis the power of  ‘grass roots’ organisations  has become apparent.  Dataminers, mappers, programmers & communicators have  sent word by social media & Nepali & international responders loaded trucks, jeeps & motorcycles & carried relief into areas, delivering their own shelter, food & water, digging people out of debris, clearing roads, donating blood etc. Now the word is shelter, first temporary then permanent, the monsoon is coming.

Amongst the chaos artists' grass roots organisations have made a real difference. They & their work are desperately important. In the coming weeks & months. Fear is everywhere people & children need help. Our donations & campaign will be giving small amounts of money over the next year to areas that can be forgotten.

About the charity

Kathmandu Contemporary Arts Centre's mission is to act as a catalyst for contemporary artists in Nepal and promote their work abroad. In 2010 KCAC established Nepal's first international contemporary arts centre in Patan and began giving scholarships to emerging Nepali artists.
