The King's Church London Jericho Road Project exists to alleviate poverty in and around the borough of Lewisham. The Project has been helping rough sleepers and housing vulnerable people in South East London since 2001.

Story

The Jericho Road Project was established in 2001 with the mission to eliminate rough sleeping in the Lewisham borough. The project has six low support houses with 27 residents who are supported in moving into independent accommodation, getting back into employment or volunteering in the community. The Project also runs The Feast, a weekly drop in meal for 100+ homeless and vulnerable people who have access to a hot three course hot meal, housing advice, free clothing and friendship. Jericho Road also runs two Christmas schemes: King's Christmas Trees - Selling 550+ high quality Nordmann Fir Christmas Trees across South East London. The profits fund a years worth of food at The Feast, around 4,500 meals. Big Red Box - Christmas food hampers, packed by the community and distributed through social services and local charities to some of the neediest families and individuals in the South East London communities. We distributed 2,136 Big Red Boxes in 2017! Where will the money go: This year we are raising money to insure that we are giving our residents the best quality service so they have the best chance at a positive move on from the project. We aim to do this in two ways: Housing maintenance - We want our residents to be proud of where they live and feel like they've had a positive and fresh start. To do this some of our houses need a bit of TLC, with new decoration of rooms and common areas as well as some new furniture.Relationship Building: We want our residents to build strong friendships and great memories while they're with us so we want to put some money into team activities and days out that they will remember and value. Last year we took our residents on a day out to Whitstable and we're keen to do more this year.
