Story
300 refugees came to CARAS for help in 2016. We work with unaccompanied children, women experiencing domestic violence or families living in poor accommodation or at risk of eviction.
Refugees need help with legal and bureaucratic issues that come with life in a new and unfamiliar society. Many speak little English and have no idea where to turn for help and support.
CARAS's support and advocacy sessions last a full hour, enough time to unpick complex situations and find solutions. Moreover, we provide as many follow-up sessions as needed to resolve the problem.
Last year
- 5 families experiencing domestic violence were moved to a place of safety
- 10 families avoided becoming homeless
- 15 households were helped to overcome sanctions/removal of benefits and threats of eviction
“I didn’t know what rights I have in this country as a woman. Now I know.”

Last year we gave more than 500 hours support to people in need - can you help us do even more in 2017?
