Our current position

KYDZ - Keighley's Youth Theatre meet weekly and put on three productions per year (two full length shows and one concert). Most of our material is devised by the children, who come from a range of backgrounds within the local community. We accept children from age 9 to 18 and we are proud to accept any child, with no prejudice on ability or disability. The only thing we care about is commitment. 

We are a 100% volunteer run charity, with volunteers making up the Board, Committee and Leadership Team that runs the charity on a day-to-day basis. Our small team of enthusiastic volunteers take on multiple roles in order to run the charity successfully, for example towards shows members of our Leadership Team also take on technical roles in sound and lighting, wardrobe and choreography. Having the same small team do both puts a strain on the time we are able to spend with the children developing their skills and confidence. 

The Problem

Our lighting and sound equipment is end of life, and we have to spend a large sum of money each year to hire equipment that is needed to put on our performances. 

The Solution

We want to raise funds to purchase our own new lighting and sound equipment that will ensure that the funds we continue to raise as a charity are used to enhance the time we spend with the children. 

Purchasing our own new equipment will also mean that we spend less time working with it as newer equipment is much more time efficient. This means that our small team will be able to spend more time with our children developing their drama skills and confidence that will help them transition to adulthood and the workplace. 

We believe our work makes a huge difference to the lives of our young people and upgrading our technology will enable us to keep on working with them for years to come.
