" It's like the Tour de France, but smaller and not in France" - Edward Oliver, Team Linkage
Linkage Adult Skills is taking on a challenge like they've never done before. On Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th June 2018, three Linkage clients, supported by three staff members, will be putting on their helmets and padded shorts to do a 73 mile cycling challenge, biking across the county, visiting some of Linkage's main sites.
Our intrepid team of cyclists will pedal from our Weelsby campus in Grimsby, to our new facilities at Boultham Park in Lincoln, with an overnight stay at the Toynton campus.
The Tour de Linkage gives our clients the opportunity to take their sporting interests to another level and to challenge and push themselves further than they thought possible. Carl, Ed and James are all keen cyclists but none of the them have done something like this before. It's going to be tough but we think it's achievable!
Day 1: We cycle from our Weelsby campus in Grimsby to our Linkage Green café in Mablethorpe, transfer to our Scremby site, and then bike onwards to our Toynton All Saints campus near Spilsby. The lads will be camping overnight at Toynton, enjoying well-deserved rest!
Day 2: We set off from Toynton Hall and cycle all the way to Boultham Park in Lincoln, via the Water Rail Way from Woodhall Spa.
We hope to make a triumphant arrival at Boultham Park around 3pm!
As a charity, we empower people with learning difficulties and disabilities to access a wide range of health and fitness opportunities. This event is part of a wider initiative to remove as many barriers to participation in sport and fitness activities as possible: locating accessible facilities, addressing individual attitudes towards sport including building confidence, finding opportunities for training and competition, and helping to acquire resources and equipment.
