Story
Every 5 years the church building is inspected by an architect engaged by the Diocese. His task is to identify areas of the fabric of the building that require repair or replacement. The last inspection of All Saints took place in 2015. All those repairs categorised as high priority have been carried out. The report also advised to monitor the roof of the north aisle as the first signs of deterioration were detected.
The second phase of repairs is now being planned. These include restitching the quoins on the tower and repairing rendering on the west wall. The repairs are now urgent and if we are to keep the church watertight they need to be carried out before winter sets in.
We have been awarded the necessary permissions from the Diocese. We just need to raise the money. The total cost for all of this work including VAT is £35,000. The VAT can be reclaimed but this is still a huge sum for such a small community.
