Replanting in our 500 year old garden.

Organised by the lord leycester

We recently funded an Edwardian Greenhouse in our beautiful 500 year old garden. We seek to complete the project by stocking our gardens with Tudor plants, like they grew for our 500 year old kitchen.

Elizabeth I asked her courtiers to look after wounded soldiers who had bravely fought for her. In response to his Queen's request, Robert Dudley, Earl of Leycester, founded the Lord Leycester and we have fulfilled this mission ever since taking care of wounded and needy military men and women.

Story

Our Garden is a hidden gem in the centre of Warwick.  For 500 years it has been growing produce to cook in the Brethren's Kitchen and cultivating plants and flowers to decorate the Great Hall for Banquets and celebrations.  It is secretly hidden behind the walls, an unexpected oasis of tranquility and beauty in the heart of town. Now we have funded our new Edwardian Greenhouse we want to educate and show the public how greenhouses were used in bygone years and display the plants that were cultivated in them.

We have already received generous grants from the Elizabeth Creak Charitable Trust and local Warwick individuals.  We have received pledges from Warwick Glass and Woodpecker  Ltd, Greenhouse builders but we are still looking for contributions.
