Lovat Shinty Club is a volunteer run, sports organisation serving the villages of Kiltarlity and Kirkhill, in rural Inverness-shire. The club provides sporting opportunity for children and adults, male and female, in the local area and is the heartbeat of the community. Match days are an important social event for community, not just the players. The senior men’s team are playing at the pinnacle of the sport and are the holders of the Camanachd Cup for the first time since 1953. Youth development is now a major focus for the club and our youth membership has increased massively over the past six months due to a new coaching initiative. Also, the club has seen the recent introduction of a ladies team.

Story

On the 31st of July 2017, members of the club will embark on a 400 mile cycling challenge, visiting all the pitches of the teams in Shinty's Premier League. Starting in Glasgow, they venture west to Tighnabruiach, then up the west coast to Oban. Fort William (Caol) is next, followed by Spean Bridge and over to Newtonmore and Kingussie. Then across to the west coast again to Balmacara, turning back for Drumnadrochit and finally over Culnakirk and then Balgate where the team will finish by making the short hop to Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival where they will be piped onto the main stage with Torrid at 4pm.

All proceeds are to be split equally between Lovat Shinty Club's Community Pavilion Project and the Highland Hospice.

Lovat Shinty Club is embarking on an ambitious project to build a new sports pavilion in the village of Kiltarlity.

We intend to build a new changing pavilion with 4 changing rooms, kitchen facilities, referee changing room, treatment room and a large general purpose space. There will also be a spectator gallery, which will have disabled access as well as a disabled toilet, which will be open to the public at all times to accommodate users of the community play area sited within our grounds.

We intend the new clubhouse to be multi use, linking with local community groups and health services, in particular the use of the treatment room.

Currently we have support from SportScotland and The Robertson Trust, to part fund the cost, however, now rely on generous donations and fundraising to reach our targets. Your help and support would mean a lot to not only the shinty club but to the community as a whole. Please don't hesitate to contact us should you wish to learn more.
