Story
A meningococcal group B (MenB) vaccine was finally introduced in the UK childhood immunisation scheme in September 2015 after decades of research and years of campaigning.
Currently the NHS immunisation scheme only covers babies. Other at risk groups, including toddlers and teenagers are not eligible for the vaccine.
Before an extended vaccination process can be considered more research is needed. Evaluation needs to show how well the vaccine is currently working and how much protection against MenB is being provided. With this evidence MRF will be able to make the strongest case to policy makers for more age groups to be vaccinated.
We have already committed to over £400,000 to MenB vaccine evaluation research. We need your help to continue this ground breaking and life saving work.
