Story

We are tirelessly fundraising for the life-changing Drager Baby Leo Incubator!

We've already raised an amazing £17,000 from our events & donors but we need to raise another £15,000 and we'd LOVE your help!

Here's some of the amazing factors which makes Baby Leo incredibly special....

1. It has the ability to be lowered (in fact it goes down to toddler level!). This means our mums who have had C-Sections will be able to access baby with ease and little discomfort.

2. It has an inbuilt saturation machine, temperature probe and noise detector. No need for extra equipment, this has it all!

3. The roof lifts off, this means our doctors and nurses can gain crucial access to baby - this is especially helpful during procedures.

4. It has an inbuilt iPad / iPhone docking station. Parents could record themselves reading a story, their heartbeats or play music to help baby feel more comfortable.

5. It has heaters which create a wall when the side of the incubator opens. This means parents can be more hands on without worrying about baby being cold.

We caught up with our very own Professor Samir Gupta to find out his thoughts... " “The maintenance of temperature is particularly important for babies born prematurely and those who require intensive care. With advances in technology, the new generation of incubators such as Drager Baby Leo, allow providing family centred care as parents can get closer to the baby while minimising any discomfort to the baby. The noise levels are low and the temperature control through different mechanisms allows babies maintaining stable temperature while various interventions are carried out or baby moved around the neonatal unit. The other advantage is to switch the incubator between closed and open systems as per the needs of the intensive care without taking the baby out of incubator. I am pleased to say that these new generation of incubators are built around the needs of the baby rather than just clinical care.”
