Story
In 2013 New Future Collective was awarded an Arts Council England grant to develop the capacity of our organisation to produce theatre in a found warehouse space in Hackney, part of the Hackney Downs Studios complex.
In March 2015 we took on the lease of this space and the Hackney Showroom was born. Hackney Showroom is a raw industrial warehouse space and theatre set in a 4,000 sqft former print works. The premises incorporates a large performance space (up to 200 seated), a studio space (up to 60 seated), a bar/box office and dressing rooms.
Our directors Sam Curtis Lindsay and Nina Lyndon, alongside our artistic team Zawe Ashton, Lorna Gayle, Lekan Lawal & Jo McInnes, share a vision to create an inspiring community building, flinging our doors wide open to local residents, working with the very best artists and companies to create an invigorating, varied and inclusive programme.
