NLPR was set up in 1996 to rescue & rehabilitate unwanted, neglected, abused and bequeathed companion parrots and to provide a permanent sanctuary for disabled, sensitive and difficult companion psitticines. We seek to educate the public in all areas of parrot welfare both in captivity and the wild.

Story

Following the merger of two parrot rescue groups, New Life Parrot Rescue was formed and run by Julie and John Hamilton in 1996.  Since that time they have become a recognised authority on all things psitticine both in the UK and the US.  Even DEFRA consults them!  Over the years, they have rescued and restored to good health many neglected and abused parrots and campaigned for better understanding of captive birds' needs and against the wild/exotic bird trade.

All this costs a great deal of money and NLPR has successfully run various fundraising appeals in the past.  Sadly, however, John has become very ill and the burden of caring for him and the Rescue has fallen on Julie's shoulders leaving little time for additional fundraising.  So the Rescue's reserves are now at rock bottom and this excellent organisation faces imminent closure.

We urgently need to raise £10,000 in 30 days to cover immediate needs (vet fees & food).  Please donate and protect the fragile birds in NLPR's care.
