Windsor Parish Church and All Saints, Frances Road, serve the centre and eastern side of Windsor town. We are a Christian presence of love and service to all in our community.

Story

The world famous novelist and poet Thomas Hardy trained as an architect and worked as a gothic draughtsman on a number of churches in the 1860's. It has been known for many years that Hardy drew the designs for All Saints Church, Frances Rd, Windsor. What was not known was that an original, highly decorative altar-piece (known as a reredos) actually designed as well as drawn by Hardy has lain hidden behind the current 1920's oak panelling. It was discovered by chance when a torch was shone up the back of a panel during a search for the church foundation stone!

We now need around £9000 to pay for the work needed to reveal this major find in all its glory. Once made visible again, the Hardy reredos will be of great interest to the thousands of Hardy devotees around the world, will put our church on the tourist map of Windsor, and will restore this outstanding example of Victorian gothic religious art to the sight of all who worship at or use this fine building.
