Story
They kicked her out. A young widow, living in Baghdad whose husband was shot by terrorists when their youngest daughter was barely a year old. She was left with 3 young daughters to raise by herself and having already experienced the death of her mother, she was no stranger to heartache. She went to live with her father so that she could provide a house for her children. Her father remarried and her stepmother kicked her out - it doesn’t just happen in fairy tales…
We are in the process of re-locating her to Karbala to live in the new flats we have constructed there, however we need your help to give them the house they so desperately need.
One of the most difficult costs for widows to cover in Iraq is accommodation. Many of you may have heard about the NOF Housing Project which started work in February 2017 - we have reached approximately 90% of our target which will greatly transform the lives of the family of this widow and her 3 daughters, as well as 5 other families for generations to come..
All the flats need to be furnished with essential white goods which will cost in the region of £10,000. The kitchens, bathrooms, doors and windows all need to be completed and this will cost another £20,000.
Upon completion, these flats will always be used to accommodate orphans. Once they are old enough to be independent, new orphan children will move in, thus beginning a new cycle of positive change for children who have experienced things we can’t even imagine.
Please help us finish these flats so the orphans can move in and restart their lives with hope and optimism for the future.
