Story
Oasisplay will become the only open access facility that is a fully inclusive site. Our facilities cater for children with complex disabilities alongside local children. Although we are considered inclusive, sadly not all of our playground site is. This revamp will make us the only FULLY accessible/inclusive site for disabled and non-disabled children to play together in South London and as such be a unique and much needed community resource. Locally many play facilities don’t cater for disabled children or can only take children with very low needs. Our Inclusive play facility will be open to children from across Lambeth on weekends and weekdays throughout the year.
The children and young people who live and go to school in this area as well as disabled children from across Lambeth and Southwark will benefit from having a fully adapted sensory space to play in. The current playground has developed over the years in a piecemeal fashion, and many of the structures are not fully inclusive. The site has pockets that are under-used and wasted space. By increasing both the play value of the site (creating circuits, targeting sensory development, having new structures) and utilising wasted space we can improve the play experience for local children who lack safe/social spaces to play with children of all abilities and backgrounds. The site will also support young people at risk, those with English as a second language, refugees, asylum seekers, and those in care.
