The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
Visit the charity's profileAs many of our supporters know, the Halfway House project is Our Kids Foundation's biggest and most ambitious project to date. The facility provides a temporary home and vocational training for young adults leaving institutional care. Currently, there are 7 young people living at the Halfway House and many already have jobs and are on their way to living fully independent lives. We have also been lucky enough to acquire the rights to a local business that manufactures jams and traditional local products like 'ajvar'. However, there is much more that can be done. To make the Halfway House self-sustainable as possible, we would like to make it energy efficient. Therefore, we are currently fundraising to pay for central heating and solar panels. Mostar and Bosnia and Herzegovina have very cold winters and extremely hot summers, which means that central heating is a much needed necessity, while solar panels are a great way of saving energy and funds during the summer. The total cost to install central heating and solar panels is 30 000 Euros. A longstanding and extremely generous donor has already given us half of this amount so we are looking for a further 15 000 Euros in donations. While we have applied for local and international grants, we are asking our supporters to give generously and help the young people in our care. Any amount, however big or small is greatly appreciated.
