The Oyster Project is a charity that aims to empower and support disabled people volunteering in the community. We are entirely run by volunteers and are holders of the Queens Award for Voluntary Service. Based in Westgate Chapel, Lewes, this ancient space is the hub of numerous projects organised for members. In the last 12 years our work has tangibly benefited the lives of many. The Food Bank and Si's Soup Kitchen both run alongside the Community Cafe. We operate three days a week with cooking training and food distribution. The Oyster Food Bank is there for people when things get tough, but what we do is much more than just handing out food parcels. At the heart of the Food Bank is a welcoming, active community, a place to socialise, to enjoy a hot meal, a bowl of soup, all with a focus on healthy eating & better lives. You can help this important project continue throughout the festive period and into 2016 by donating now!
