Visit the charity's profileIn Ghana alone, Malaria is responsible for 21% of the deaths of all children under the age of 5.
Yet, unbelievably, the effects of Malaria are even more damaging than the statistics suggest: parents who contract Malaria are unable to work or complete essential domestic chores, and so often have to appoint their children to nurse them, or care for younger siblings, or carry out difficult domestic chores. In more extreme cases, children are even forced to engage in dangerous child labour to earn essential income. And without knowledge or money to access professional healthcare, many families turn to often dangerous 'traditional healing'.Through a combination of classroom education, community information workshops, clinical screening & treatment, and the distribution of mosquito nets, repellents, & medicines, this programme empowers local families to combat Malaria and save lives.
