St. Michael’s is the parish church for the Anglican parish of Kirkby in Malhamdale within the Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales. This is a parish of some thirty seven square miles serving the communities of Airton, Calton, Hanlith, Kirkby Malham, Malham, Malham Moor, Otterburn, and Scosthrop.

Story

On the night of 8th May 2015, thieves stole or damaged almost all the lead on the south aisle of our lovely church. This was done despite the fact that the roof was alarmed, and all the lead was marked with Smartwater. This is particularly disastrous since it came hard on the heels of our success in gaining funds to redo the nave roof which is also leaking. We now face the difficult task of raising money to do the south aisle. Because there is so much lead theft from churches, our insurers  have a cap on the amount they will payout, and this leaves us with about £50,000 to raise. We are working hard to try and identify how to do this. One of the things we are doing is setting up this Just Giving fundraising page.
