Story
Our charity has recently secured the opportunity to take a group of service users suffering from Eating Disorders on a Recovery Retreat to the Pyrenees Mountains. The aim is to give people a chance to focus on regaining control of their eating disorder, whilst providing treatment, help and support, to enable them to return home with an improved quality of life. There will be 1:1 support, groups, mindfulness by the waterfalls, yoga, guided mountain walks, music and laughter & above all, the motto 'Eating to Live" as opposed to "Living to Eat".
We would like anybody needing this Retreat to be able to have the opportunity, regardless of their finances, so we have set up this page in the hope of raising a bursary. The idea is that all individuals will contribute to the funding themselves to show commitment and will be helped by our charities bursary. The trip is planned for June 2017, for a week, & will be facilitated by the Founders of the charity, (Registered Mental Health Nurse and Eating Disorder Practitioner & Paediatric Nurse & Eating Disorder Practitioner), a Mindfulness professional, a Yoga teacher & musicians..to name a few! A typical day will include breakfast together followed by a walk to the local waterfall, yoga beside the river, lunch sat around the lake, 1:1 & group sessions in the afternoon, a local stroll to take in the views of the mountains & provide space for thinking with the evening ending in a meal together at a local restaurant (all meal plans will be organised & agreed in advance.) There will be music & chat & a time to reflect on the day. Vision boards / recovery toolboxes & journals will also form part of the week & we will be taking all materials with us for these activities.
We plan to make a documentary for parts of the week to help raise awareness & understanding, challenge the stigma & provide hope, that people with an Eating Disorder, can recover.
