Visit the charity's profileBased in Kathmandu, KTS employs 2,273 artisans who produce beautiful hand knitted garments for People Tree. 2,273 people working hard to improve their families' lives through Fair Trade.
On April 25th, an earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale hit Nepal, killing 8,000 people & injuring 19,000 more. Just 17 days later, a second earthquake, measuring 7.3, left further devastation, desolation & despair.
2,272 artisans survived. Sadly, KTS confirm that Mrs Balkumari Maharjan did not, leaving behind two young sons. Her sons, with so many in the KTS family, lost homes, schools, support. KTS lost a dye plant, key to their future.
With your help, 2,272 people can start to rebuild homes & lives. The People Tree community has already helped us to raise £10,000. That's already with KTS & Fair Trade Nepal.
