Story
Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition – to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.
Ten years to tame prostate cancer. We have focused on four priority areas:
Better diagnosis - It is currently incredibly difficult to tell dangerous and fast-growing prostate cancers from slow-growing cancers that may never kill. We are funding top-quality research, both across the UK and internationally, so we can catch dangerous cancers early - helping more men survive – and reduce the number of men being treated unnecessarily.Better treatment - just as each man is different, no two prostate cancers are the same. Yet treatment options for this disease are usually one-size-fits-all. We are working on creating better, targeted treatments, without the life-changing side-effects that currently affect so many men.
Better prevention - we need to better understand how prostate cancers start, grow, and develop so we can stop the disease from occurring and recurring.Better support - while pushing for scientific advancements, we’ll continue to provide award-winning support to men with prostate cancer through our Specialist Nurses, peer support, and information provision.
