Since its establishment in Palestine in 1869, the Ramallah Friends School (RFS) strives to offer quality education based on Quaker ethos, principles and values. Stemming from the belief that all are children of God, and that all people are equal before God and are equal members of any community regardless of their gender, religion, creed or culture we founded the Learning Support Program (LSP) for students with special needs in 1995. 

The program remains the first and only inclusive education program of its type for students in Palestine our aim is to care for each child’s specific needs which include educational, physical, behavioural, emotional and social needs including children with Cerebral Palsy (CP), Dyslexia, Speech and Language Difficulties.  LSP staff have developed a wide variety of multi-sensory educational resources and we continue to improve accessibility on both Lower and Upper School campuses.  The Learning Support staff and faculty collaborate to ensure all students’ needs are met and given a chance to succeed in all aspects of school life.

The program has grown to include almost 100 students every year.  Through bursaries has made it possible to enrol more students in LSP through our financial aid program.  If it were not for RFS many of these children would not have the opportunity to enrol at a school where they can be part of the classroom and are given the tools to learn whilst among their peers.
