Story

Over the last 2 years we have seen a huge increase in the number of requests to help cats in the local community, particularly from members of the public concerned for stray or feral cats living on the streets with no owners to care for them. These cats are often the result of unneutered cats being abandoned by their owners and going on to breed out of control.

The Snip N Chip campaign is a 12 month project which will provide reduced cost neutering and microchipping for cats in the Rotherham area.

The chart (seen in the campaign images) shows the ages of cats who entered our care from 1st Jan 2017 - 31st December 2017, as you can see the graph is heavily overbalanced towards the younger end of the scale, with the majority of cats being aged 1 year or younger) confirming what we know to be the desperate need to neuter to prevent young mum cats having unwanted litters.

We have been fortunate to be named an advocate for the Cats Protection Community Neutering Scheme once again in 2018. We will issue the vouchers they provide but we want to ensure we can also provide education about responsible pet ownership to pet owners, and financial help to those struggling to cover the costs of essential veterinary procedures such as neutering and microchipping, the running of Trap, Neuter and Re-release program for wild feral cats to control their overpopulation as well being able to offer a place of safety to the cats and kittens who find themselves homeless on the streets with no one else to care for them, giving them everything they need to go on to have happy health new lives.

We are fundraising to cover our veterinary fees incurred whilst offering this service, including neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, flea and worming treatments as well as other procedures that may come up such as tests for Feline diseases common amongst street cats.
