Story
One year ago, the image of three-year-old Alan Kurdi shocked the world. Thousands of people like you called on the UK to help refugees–persuading our government to accept 20,000 Syrians.
Since then, 2,860 of these vulnerable refugees have arrived on our shores. Families like Raed, Basima and their sons, whose home was bombed and who were forced to move seven times to escape the fighting.
Refugee Action provides practical help to families like Raed and Basima’s. But since June, we’ve been stunned to see a huge rise in race hate and xenophobia across the UK – putting families like theirs at risk once again.
This autumn, we want to raise £24,000 – money that will help us give practical support to newly-arrived refugee families, as well as campaign to make sure their rights are respected.
“There is nothing to go back for,” says Raed of his former home. Please donate now to make sure his family, who lost everything to war, can finally live in safety and peace.
