Story

On July 10 GMP’s Volunteer Police Cadets (VPC) will join up with friends, family and members of the Railway Cycle Club (Droylsden) to take on the Manchester to Blackpool bike ride.

GMP’s VPC who are volunteers aged 13 – 17 years, have beensupporting the local communities of greater Manchester for over 3 years. Theyhave done this by being visible and engaging in many community initiativeswhich have had a positive impact in our area.

This year GMP’s VPC want to raise money for Retrak, a Stockportbased charity that helps street children who have been abandoned in Africa andSouth America. We want to raise funds for Retrak who gives these childrenrefuge in hostels, provides education and support at drop in centres andestablishes links with family members or foster carers.

We are also sending 2 cadets to Uganda to use the skills they havegained by being a cadet, to help Retrak provide services at their centres. After all, no child should feel unloved and be abandoned.

Thank you
