The club started in June 2013, and is run voluntarily by its members – everyone mucks in to do their bit. It is a really special place with no pretences, and is where you can easily make friends and get involved with a club that is growing.

Story

Our new skerry, purchased part-built to minimise costs, is now being completed thanks to the hard work and generosity of a number of club members.

The RBBC has grown rapidly over the last three years and as the number of rowing outings increases, so has the demand for boats. Our members voted last year on the type of new boat they would like for the club and chose a second skerry, the same class as our very first boat, The Weddle.

A Skerry is a cross between a Wherry and a Skiff, which is very stable and allows 8 people to row side by side. She will be a sociable boat on which friends can enjoy good times together. Importantly, we will not be reliant on borrowing boats from others as the club moves forward.

We are sure you will agree that this special project which you voted on is a very worthwhile one once you get out on the water in our beautiful new skerry over the coming months.

We need your support since this special project cannot be funded by membership fees alone, which really only cover some of the club's ongoing expenses.
