The Big Kennel Rebuild

Our current dog kennels are now just over 25 years old. They have served their purpose well but are now looking tired and dated and need to be replaced with modern facilities for dogs in our care.

Little Valley Animal Shelter is owned and run by the Devon Branch of the RSPCA and is located on the outskirts of Exeter. We receive no funding from the RSPCA national society towards our day to day running costs, this all has to be met from donations and local fundraising.

Story

RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter in Exeter was built in 1991. Our current dog kennels are now just over 25 years old as they were built when the Shelter opened.

They have served their purpose well but are now looking tired and dated and, of course, daily washing and hosing out takes it’s toll on the concrete flooring. There is underfloor heating but it is not adequate if we get a particularly cold winter. Windows and doors are not fully insulated. The list goes on.

It is time to rebuild the kennels and replace them with modern facilities for the dogs in our care.

We are a self-funding branch and all monies to run the Shelter are raised locally through legacies, our charity shops, fundraising events and the generosity of local people.
