Shaare Zedek UK raises vital funds to support the work of the Shaare Zedek Medical Centre in Jerusalem, one of Israel's busiest hospitals. The hospital combines Jewish values and traditions with world-class standards of medical excellence and treats every patient equally and without discrimination

Story

In a city where 34% of the population are 14 years old or younger, over half of Jerusalem’s children live below the poverty line. Poverty in childhood has profound effects on children’s health throughout their lifetime.

In response Shaare Zedek built the Next Generation building which represents a unique approach to every aspect of maternity, infant and child medical care. It offers state-of-the-art equipment and cutting edge technology while holistically incorporating complementary therapies such as pet, music and art therapy – the benefits of which are quite often miraculous.

Set up 114 years ago by European Jews to provide world class care and compassion to all people in the region regardless of religion, ethnicity, nationality or means, it is a non governmental organisation and relies on local and international donations to fund equipment, facilities, supplies and research. It serves 3/4 mil people each year. Shaare Zedek UK has helped support the hospital for more than 70 years.
