Story
If you or someone you loved were involved in a serious accident, you'd give anything for the best medical attention as quickly as possible.
Sheffield's Northern General Hospital is one of only 26 Major Trauma Centres (MTCs) across England, providing specialist consultant-led care for the most extreme and urgent medical trauma cases. It serves a population of around 1.8 million people across South Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Humber and the East Midlands.
Although there is a helipad at the hospital, it was built many years ago and is both too small and too far away from the MTC for the needs of trauma and emergency patients in our region. The faster these patients receive treatment in an MTC, the higher their chances of survival.
Every second really can count. A new helipad at the Northern General Hospital will save time and save lives.
