Trust Lead Therapist Kerry Evans explains why she has agreed to take on the Hastings Half Marathon in order to help raise funds for the Trust.
"In my role as Counsellor at the Trust, I see first hand the difference we can make to the lives of those affected by cancer and other life threatening illnesses, and wanted to help raise funds so that we could support an additional 50 people this year.
I've always enjoyed a leisurely weekend jog along the seafront but I haven't run anything close to 13 miles before. I don't think I've even walked that far! So running the half marathon is going to be quite a challenge. I began training with enthusiasm in August when the weather was warm and the days were long. Recently, running up the steep Battle Road in the cold wind and rain, was not so idyllic and I had to spur myself on by thinking about all the local people who will benefit from the support of the Sara Lee Trust as a result of the money raised by our half marathon team.
If you would like to join us as a runner or to sponsor us we'd be very grateful for your support."
We value every donation, no matter how large or small.
