Story

19/09/2018

The thoughts of everyone at Solving Kids' Cancer are with Hayley's family, her parents Brian and Zoe, and big sister Jessica.Hayley sadly relapsed very recently after coming through endless treatment and surgeries. Neuroblastoma is so cruel and has taken another beautiful child. We'll keep fighting it until this no longer happens.

Her family posted on social media: "We are completely heartbroken to let everyone know that our beautiful and precious Hayley sadly passed away on Saturday night. As I'm sure you can all appreciate, this is an extremely difficult time for us all. We will be focusing on trying to get through this as best we can and will be closing Hayley's page in about a week once everyone has had a chance to see this message.

We would like to thank you all for supporting Hayley through everything she has been through and hope you will always remember her and keep her in your hearts xxx"

Hayley started to complain that her legs hurt when she walked. On the day of her 4th birthday party Hayley had a temperature and felt ill. The temperatures continued over the next few weeks with night sweats. Hayley also complained that her tummy was sore. Parents, Zoe and Brian, took Hayley to the doctors on numerous occasions as her symptoms worsened. Unhappy with the diagnosis of constipation, a virus or the anxiety of starting school, her parents sought another opinion. This consultation led to blood tests and an ultrasound. By now, Hayley was in constant pain at night.

Just 1 hour after the ultrasound, devastating news followed; Hayley had a tumour in her abdomen, believed to be neuroblastoma.

In shock, Zoe and Brian were now coming to terms with the fact that both of their children had been diagnosed with neuroblastoma.  Zoe says “We were devastated.”
