Story
Our artistic patrons, Charles Owen and Iain Burnside, have welcomed it as part of the 2018 season.
'The acquisition of an excellent Steinway Model D Piano is an essential way for pianists to make the finest music whilst performing at St Laurence's Ludlow. I have no hesitation in giving this worthy cause my full support and backing' Charles Owen, Steinway & Sons UK Ambassador
‘I’m thrilled that St Laurence’s have gone ahead with their bold piano plan. There’s no doubt that a top class piano will enhance the church's reputation as a music venue of national standing. Its impact will be noticed by audiences, performers and promoters alike. I wish the whole project great success.’ Iain Burnside, Artistic Director of Ludlow English Song Weekend
OUR NEW PIANO
Originally the instrument we have purchased formed part of the Steinway hire fleet; it then spent the rest of its life at Marlborough College. Having been stripped of all the replaceable parts, the case is already on its way to Europe to be refinished. It will then return for total rebuilding using only Steinway parts; essentially it will be as new, all that will remain of the original instrument is the case and iron frame. From the outset of this project we intended to not only both support the existing concert series, but also look to how we could foster growth in the future. The possibilities are now endless. I’m pleased to report that we are in the early stages of agreeing a partnership with the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. We will be hosting a series of lunchtime concerts to be given by their students to complement our organ recitals from May – September; we will also be welcoming prize winning post-graduate students as part of the Summer Arts Festival.
It would help us enormously if you could respond to this appeal by sponsoring a key for £50.
The names of all donors will be recorded in a memorial book .
